School taught us wrong things about prioritization

School taught us the misleading idea that the value of our different efforts is the same or comparable.

If you were given Math, English, and Biology homework assignments, you were supposed to treat them equally.

While it might make sense for school (for brain development etc), it doesn’t reflect the strategy that works in business AT ALL.

If you see three growth opportunities for your business, the value of these opportunities will be VASTLY unequal.

One opportunity might bring 80% of the profits, another 20%, and the third one will be a complete waste of time (0%).

While this idea is sort of self-evident, it’s often hard to practice it.

And it’s so so important to practice it!

Because while we may not know the outcomes in advance, we can often make a pretty good guess.

And then focus ALL of the efforts on the 20% of the opportunities that are most likely to produce 80% of the outcome.
